Biography
1939 : Born in Abnoub al Hammam, Assiout, Upper Egypt
1956 – 1961 : He studied Graphic Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Cairo, Egypt
1960 – 1962 : He trained at the Institute of Coptic Arts, Cairo (became acquainted with renowned Egyptian artists and architects, such as Habib Gorgy, Ragheb Ayad, Wissa Wassef)
1961- 1963 : He participated in important exhibitions, such the Spring Salon and the Alexandria Biennale
1962- 1971 : He worked as an author and illustrator for children in the Egyptian publishing company Dar el Helal; he also worked for Egyptian National Television as an author and illustrator for children’s programs
1971 – 1980 : He resided in Paris and published his work in renowned children's magazines like Pomme d’Api and Okapi (Bayard Press), Perlin et Pinpin (Éditions Fleurus); exhibited his watercolor paintings in Paris and several European cities
1973- 1978 : He taught at Strasbourg University (Faculty of Fine Art)
1980 : He returned to Cairo and settled there permanently
1997- 1998 : He directed the Egyptian Cultural Center in Paris
